WHO: Hank McCoy and anyone who wants to visit the soul-suckees! (perhaps even the soul-suckees themselves?)
WHERE: The labs in Avengers Mansion
WHEN: Sunday!
WARNINGS: blue guy not being blue, clumsiness, buttons that are suddenly too big for his hands
SUMMARY: Hank has gathered all the soul-suckees into his makeshift medical ward at the mansion, Bobbi comes by to borrow his powers to fight the bad guy. You're left with a much smaller, pinker doctor.

He'd spent all evening arranging the beds, and gathered up his patients with a little help. There wasn't really anything he could do for them, only to keep them safe until some method might perhaps be extracted from the culprit.

The main challenge was to keep them from floating away from the beds. He didn't want to strap them down or anything, really it was just a simple tether that was necessary, and constant supervision.

One thing was clear to him, he wouldn't be going anywhere for a while.
Dr. Henry Phillip McCoy: I'm not quite sure how to respond...

In Bobbi's humble opinion, it was time to take action. The basement was too crowded and the numbers were growing too quickly for them to do anything without taking out the problem at the source.

The idea of taking Hank's powers came as she was tethering one poor, vacant-eyed soul and was quickly dismissed as completely impractical. But the more she considered it, the more it seemed like it just might work. The soul-suckees needed Hank's care and she could do more good in the field, and even more good if she had some extra strength and agility.

Clearing her throat, she turned to her colleague, "Hank, a thought occurs..."
Dr. Henry Phillip McCoy: I find myself brimming with thoughts.bluepurrymuffin on June 19th, 2011 10:21 pm (UTC)
Hank was busy trying to reel in a stray that had floated up to the ceiling. Impudent little thing, this middle-aged redheaded gentleman was. He'd managed to lasso his torso, and was gently pulling him back to ground level.

His ears perked up as Bobbi spoke, "Thoughts will certainly aid us in this situation, boss, as I'm about spent on them. What do you have in mind?"
Bobbi Morse || Mockingbird: srs bsnsmockingbirdie on June 19th, 2011 10:34 pm (UTC)
"My power is to steal the powers of others..." She tilted her head to watch this wrangling ordeal. Watching him lassoing people just cemented the plan in her mind. "You're needed here in the lab, but I'd do more good trying to that that guy out. And if I had some extra strength and agility on my side, I'm sure I'd be more effective in the field."
Dr. Henry Phillip McCoy: How very interesting...bluepurrymuffin on June 20th, 2011 12:50 am (UTC)
He glanced up at his stray floater, then back down at her. "I see your point. There's little we can here to solve this issue, and conquering the culprit may be our only hope. If you feel this would be the best course, then I defer to your judgement. You have my full consent."
Bobbi Morse || Mockingbird: pb - wide eyedmockingbirdie on June 20th, 2011 05:57 am (UTC)
Bobbi gave him a determined nod, fixing her gaze squarely on Hank. "It's still tricky for me to do this. Bear with me."

It was strange, using her powers to take a power instead of just turn them off. She could feel her own power rising up from within her, slowly building until it reached a breaking point. She had to close her eyes then, the pressure within her was too much. And when she opened them again, she felt strangely off balance and unnaturally large.

"I..." She looked at her hands, now furry and blue. "It worked."
Dr. Henry Phillip McCoy: pb: Oh my stars and garters!bluepurrymuffin on June 20th, 2011 08:20 am (UTC)
It wasn't exactly a simple or entirely painless transition. He was acutely aware of his body reshaping itself, bones shifting, muscles shrinking, fur retracting and disappearing. He put his hands over his head to brace himself and suddenly realized his hands had five fingers again. And then he shot a hand down to catch his pants by the waist, as they'd suddenly become at least ten, maybe fifteen sizes too large.

"Oh my stars and garters!"

It was an entirely curious affair, as though his X-gene had suddenly shut down. Or perhaps it was simply transmitting its information to her remotely, however that may work. He may have to run some blood work to learn more about how this worked.

"It does certainly appear so!" He finally looked up to see her towering over him. So this is what it must feel like. He managed to find his smile somewhere in all this.

Bobbi's own costume was now ripped and in tatters, though somehow the spandex managed to stay mostly in place. Lucky too that her glasses hadn't been damaged in this transition from human into feline. She was still staring at her hands, so enormous and furry. She tried to grab at a table to support her new, massive legs, but those gigantic paws were awkward to use. She hoped the learning curve wouldn't be a difficult one.

"This is incredible," she said, voice muffled by a soft growl she couldn't quite force back. "Though I probably should have asked for a specific run down of your powers before I decided to steal them..."
Dr. Henry Phillip McCoy: pb: I can give you a tip or two.bluepurrymuffin on June 21st, 2011 05:59 pm (UTC)
"Well, it can be difficult to gauge exactly how much the beastly form is connected to my powers, giving that it originated from an outside catalyst. But the strength and agility you already know, but there's also the enhanced durability and accelerated healing. Claws and teeth are obvious, and the magnified sense can take some getting used to."

He moves to lean against a nearby table. "As for anatomical changes, I couldn't entirely be certain the full effect on a female bo--" ...And he completely misses the table takes a spill toward the floor instead.

He could've sworn his arms were longer than that.

"Let me help you," she said, clumsily crouching down to help Hank to his feet. Extra agility she might have, but it all felt so foreign in a body so big. And Hank seemed so tiny next to her, her paws dwarfing his seemingly miniature hands. It was only temporary, she reminded herself once they were both on their feet again.

"I should try to find that guy before the switch wears off. It'll last about an hour," she tried to sound reassuring, certain that he was just as unused to his new body as she was to hers. "We'll both be right as rain in no time." She smiled, putting on her goggles (now almost too small for her head.) "Thanks again, Hank. I'll take good care of your powers for you."

Hank stumbled his way to where Bakura was, only tripping once. He was still trying to find his equilibrium now that superhuman sense of balance was gone.

"Ah, Mr. Ryou! What can I do for you?"

Dr. Henry Phillip McCoy: pb: Oh yes of course...bluepurrymuffin on June 20th, 2011 01:21 am (UTC)
He noticed Bakura's hesitation and nearly slapped himself when he remembered. "Pardon my appearance, temporary setback. I lent my abilities to a colleague."

He walked back and gestured to the beds. "I appreciate your offer, but we're mostly running a monitoring operation here. Make sure they don't float away from their beds, and that the equipment stays in place, that nothing untoward happens while they're in our care. Just basic supervision, really."

"Oh no, not at all! But she can, that's the ability the Porter bestowed upon her."

He continued through the line, checking one of the tethers. "At present we have no cure from the condition. The monster responsible for putting them in this situation is apparently in possession of their very souls, and our best hope is to somehow free them from that captivity."

He taps one of the machines, making sure the readout was accurate. "Well, I've had no luck concocting a simpler solution, so yes, that appears to be the case."

Hank gave him a confident smile. "I can assure that I've been keeping them in the best state possible for the circumstances."

[Knock knock, guess who's making a surprise visit. Concerned for him, even though she knew full well he could handle the workload he put on himself.

Though who she finds is... not what she was expecting. Who was that, and why were their clothes so baggy?]

[He was still intending to find himself some better fitting clothes, but simply got too wrapped up in other things! Bobbi had only left a moment ago, after all.

He turned to see his new visitor and met her with a smile.

Oh, Amanda! I wasn't expecting y--

[Aaaaaand as he was moving toward her he actually tripped over his feet and face-planted on the floor. He really needs to get some more size-appropriate pants, assuming that's even the problem.]

[Blinked. First for hearing that voice, second for watching him trip over himself.

Oh lord.

She's already getting over and pulling him up onto his feet.]

Hank? What happened?
Dr. Henry Phillip McCoy: pb: Oh yes of course...
hahaha i totally fucked up the format on this one /o\
bluepurrymuffin on June 21st, 2011 06:04 pm (UTC)
[He props himself up on an elbow and gives an embarrassed grin.] Oh, just trying to become more accustomed to a less tuned sense of balance. These miniaturized feet certainly don't simplify matters.

[Oh, right. This whole experience must be rather jarring for her. Heh, he can relate.] I lent the use of my abilities to Mockingbird to assist in the battle against our current enemy, what you see is the result.

A temporary setback, I assure you.

Well, so long as you're alright. [Giving him a quick pat on the back, smiling a bit.] Are you alright? Feeling alright, at least?

[He pulls himself up to his feet and smiles at her. If there was anything he liked about this situation, it was being much closer to her eye-level without having to bend down. He wasn't even quite a foot taller than her anymore!]

Taking a bit of time to catch my stride, as it were. I haven't been anything near this size for a few years, and never have my feet felt so minuscule.

I think I'll be able to handle it well enough, though.

So... that all said.

How does it make you feel? And I don't mean physically.

[A delicate subject if there ever was one.]

[He wobbles a little.]

Well, a little uncomfortable, honestly. I'm really not sure what to do with this turn of events.

[Hand on his back - again.]

That's about the right mindset to have, I'd say. Uncertainty can actually be plenty healthy.

[Kiss on his cheek.]

So long as you're you, though, I'm happy.

[He twiddles his fingers and gives her a smile.]

Not sure this is entirely me, really. My hands were never this small before.

Quite honestly, I'm a bit impatient to be back to normal.
